I stumbled upon the work of @makoacreative at one of my favourite shopping hot spots tucked away on on Saltspring Island at the local boutique Thrive Lifestyle . Curated by the boutique owner and clothing designer, Zoe Fox, you will only find a lovely spread of clothing and accessories for the chic minimalist with a Canadian lens.
It should come as no surprise that the work of Tereza Opatril Lyver, Founder and head designer of Makoa Creative, caught my eye. Tereza lives on Vancouver island with her husband and 3 children. She is a self taught jeweller with a strong passion for design and creates all her pieces by hand from her home studio. Inspired by the artist Alphonse Mucha from her birth town of Prague.
Though I have a love for all accessories, I rarely find myself wearing large earrings and my three children under the age of 4 always seem to be getting the best of my accessories. I tend to usually stick to simple pieces with a bit of structure and clean lines. I love mixing metals and appreciate the craftsmanship in locally designed and handmade accessories. Her pieces are simple, yet incredibly unique. They are created with a boho flare, the perfect compliment for that laid back, simple-chic look. They are the perfect accessory to pair with a simple white tee, your favourite denim and a fun pair of playground sneakers or your fancy heels!
You can find more of Tereza’s designs and pieces through her Etsy shop.
